Crickets… After a week, I looked around on the internet, and apparently that has happened to a lot of people. Verdict: No RedBubble for you. Zazzle Zazzle was my next stop, their name notwithstanding sounds like a cross between the Hebrew name for Hell and vajazzle. Over-all Summary Unless you just jumped straight here, you probably figured that I have a shop both on CafePress and on Zazzle. Share this: Twitter Facebook. What else can you sell other than T-shirts? You can customise your products greatly with the text, colour and graphic options available.

Any higher and you are charged a transaction fee. Teespring differs to the others mentioned in this post in that each design has a campaign. The campaign aspect of Teesprings has a feel of urgency due to the limited time frame it can be purchased. For each campaign you:.

T-shirts are shipped as soon as a sale is made, they are shipped once the sales goal has been met. At the end of the campaign you can re-start the campaign as many times as you wish.

Redbubble started as a dream to give independent artists a meaningful new way to sell their creations. A very simple print-on-demand website that is free to join, simply upload your ideas and start selling. Redbubble have a very simple pricing strategy. There is a a base price for each product which covers their service fee and the cost of manufacturing, the seller then adds the profit margin on top.

Various clothing items including kids, phone cases, stickers, stationary, bags…. I did have a quick look at teespring a while back. I like the idea of creating designs for t-shirts with the potential of recurring income. CafePress and Zazzle offer very similar businesses, so to make things a bit easier, I looked at the prices of fan shirts and invitations — both of which seem to sell pretty well on the websites.

If you choose standard shipping, you can get the shirt within 10 days. Express shipping promises that the t-shirt will be delivered between two and three days — only after it has been manufactured which may take two days. If you are purchasing in bulk, CafePress gives you a better deal. Both websites allow you to change the color and style of t-shirts which is an added bonus. Sophisticated wedding invitations is where Zazzle perhaps has the advantage.

Then all you need to do is add the information for your event and you are ready to pay. CafePress does not have the range of invitation options as Zazzle, which has a sizeable selection, but it still has some sweet offerings. So, Cafepress v Zazzle? Both companies are reputable enterprises with over ten years of experience in the e-commerce environment. Hey Michael… Very great article! I just got 2 questions.

Not sure if you are feeling confortable giving me that information, but it will be highly appreciated! Hi Hansel — thanks for your comment. Hope that helps! Thank you Michael for sharing this research and your experiences. I have followed your suggestions and uploaded more designs to Teepublic, Redbubble and a few others you mentioned such as Design by humans. So far I have made a few sales on both Redbubble, Teepublic and a sale on Spreadshirt so this is very encouraging. My first ever POD experience and sales were on Cafepress but would not touch them now moved from there in to Zazzle and have not regretted it.

Sadly knocked back by Amazon but happy to still be making progress. Can you suggest a few good file converters that a reasonable. Most of my artwork will be line drawings with some halftones. Help for a 74 yr. Thank you, Gary. Thanks for sharing your experiences on different POD websites.

I am new at teepublic and redbubble My questions are 1. Can I upload same design on redbubble and teepublic or other POD websites? Do you have YouTube channel? So I subscribe you there. Hi Mazhar. My YouTube Channel.

Most of the sites in this article attract organic traffic, but it always helps to promote your designs. Thank you for this informative article! We just joined Redbubble yesterday but we were curious about their popularity.

Plus, I like the Copy feature on Redbubble which makes it easy to upload another design with the same dimensions as the previous design. This hinders new designers trying to join the Print On Demand world. This is a really great rundown, Michael. First, Cafepress — made pennies. Then Zazzle — even less than pennies. Both have pitiful profit margin for the artist. Society6 and some of the smaller ones — made nothing. But early days. Hi, thanks for sharing this info.

This is what most of us looking for. Good work Mike, I wish you have a youtube channel. Thank you very much for a very professional, to the point article. After reading your article, I am going to start with Teepublic, then Redbubble, because those sites meet might circumstances.

Hello Michael, I am pretty new, I presently have 8 designs on redbubble and have made zero cash, this article was quite helpful, I recently applied for merch on Amazon, although still waiting fir approval. My question is how do I choose a niche, I am struggling to understand the niche concept, can you help with that … Presently I am just designing what comes to my head, and it really sucks because I am so eager in making a sale.

And do you have a YouTube channel, I kinda learn more with videos. Hi Walt. We now have over designs on Redbubble. Some art, some photography. We enjoy several things I always say create what you like.

Good luck. Thank you for this info!! Very helpful! What is the difference between using a company like RedBubble vs going through a dropshipping platform or straight from AliExpress? This is all new to me. Hi Marquita. Using those would allow you more control over branding, pricing and everything else, but takes more of an investment of time, effort and money.

Hope this helps! Something that is not mentioned is that FineArtAmerica is extremely easy to steal artwork from. I always feel having a niche is like restricting your capabilities. Should I post one niche on multiple pod platforms or can I have one specific niche per website? Would that be a good idea?

It depends on your long term goals Manisha. If you simply want to make the most income from the designs you create, then I would put them up on multiple platforms.

Is this still true today? Michael, this article is terrific. I am just starting a pandemic business with my original designs and want to be able to have available on a variety of different items. I will have my own website and plan on doing advertising.

I will have many different designs and am hoping that this will be my new source of income moving forward. I also plan on using a portion of every sale in the design line to benefit a charitable organization. Considering variety and the highest royalty potential, is Redbubble the way to go for me as a starting point?

Thanks for your help and I look forward to checking out your YouTube channel! Thanks for great info! If you dont make it to the marketplace search result, you are on your own,and will have to drive traffic yourself.

I tried several types of design on Teepublic, but none were put up in seach. Its hard to crack the code and find that style they are looking for really.. On Cafepress i had 1 out of 12 put on the marketplace. That is ALOT of work for no traffic. Their existing designs are just terribly boring also. I am not saying my desings are stunning, but at least they have some colors and life to them: Looking on what they have on there already,it feels like joining kindergarden.

Redbubble is totally flooded, and its getting worse every day. I have sold some on merch by amazon. Great article Michael. Any info would be appreciated. Good review thanks… I used to do really great with Merch but last year everything dried up… not sure why? Maybe my designs were getting copied? Question: How are returns handled by these sites?

Does it cost the designer anything other than the lost profit? Thank you for the reviews! Which would be the best site to sell fine photo work including masks, phone cases, apparel, etc.

I did like that I could control price. I would rather the company not set my pricing. Hi Michael I just registered on the teepublick site last week and put some t-shirt designs in it. Then I saw that my account was blocked. Do not say the reason and just say breaking the rules. I used pintrest photos in two of my designs. Is my account blocked due to copyright law? Can the site block my account due to copyright if a complaint is not filed by the copyright holder or others?
