I already miss the surroundings and the dark sky. It is 2 hours away from Milford Sound with one of the most amazing drive in the world waterfalls, Homer tunnel, fiords. The room Suite was lovely with a fire place, huge windows, spa bathroom, nice smell and everything you can desire. We had the privilege to have a table in front of the fire place with a very nice Pinot Noir Black Dog. I eventually proposed my girlfriend outside this lodge as I felt it was the perfect moment to do it was hesitating a few times during our two weeks holiday in New Zealand.
Will definitely come back, worth it times! If you hesitate, just don't and go for it, you won't regret it!!! It was the best stay of our NZD trip.

Took a day cruise in Milford Sound only need to do a day cruise and an overnight cruise in Doubtful sound. Fjordland Expeditions is by far the BEST operator in the region providing a very personal and memorable experience as a max of 14 passengers sail. The captain dives for our lobster dinner, we fish for our own dinner, Mandy never leaves you hungry with her delicious homemade snacks and meals and start the second day with a nice kayak or swimming if you have the guts to jump in.

But I found that the city was lively: it has a beautiful lake, lots of kiosk offering good stuff and outdoor activities, and I found a good dining place at the corner of city center the Fat Duck. Wish I could spend more time exploring the city. Small town that does not have much night activities other than the Tab for drinking and perhaps some games. Recommended activities to do in the area is the visit to Doubtful Sound.
If you have sufficient time, might want to include the glowworm caves. The Milford sound was beautiful great cruise and bus trip. I went for a ride with high country horses who were very friendly and although the weather was not terrific they still took me even tho I was the only one on ride.
